This weeks post I'm not going to spend any time with info on the artist, all I'm gonna say is I AM A HUGE FAN, always have been and always will be. Madonna is in my book a goddess. So today I'll lay it all out there about this kick ass dance hall song.
Hung Up is the number one single (in 45 countries) on the November 2005 release, "Confessions On A Dance Floor". The tune is based on ABBA's "Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight)." and was the first time ABBA granted the use of their music. In the song, Madonna samples herself with references to her previous recordings in the lyrics, including "Don't Cry for Me Argentina" and "Love Song" (her 1989 duet with Prince). She commented at the time of the song's release '...that the new breed of female rock stars had been copying her for years, so I thought it was about time I copied myself!"

Having sold more than 8.7 million copies worldwide in only 7 months, "Hung Up" holds the record for reaching the number one position in the most countries for a single. This record was listed in the 2007 edition of Guinness Book of World Records. It's also the third biggest selling dance single of all time. With Hung Up Madonna achieved her 25th gold single surpassing the Beatles for the most gold singles of all time. Obviously "Hung Up" is one of the biggest hit singles in Madonna's career, ranked by the United World Chart as the fourth most successful song of the decade and the forty-third most successful song in music history.

With the recent disappointing news from our agency, (they did not get their Hague accreditation - more on that in another post), this song is being played constantly while I get my anger out. I hope you add it to your iPod and add it to your most played list. Now I'm off to dance the day away and sing at the top of my lungs so that the CCAA can hear my voice. Great song choice. Madonna is really timeless. I still love her old songs best.
