Starry Starry Nights

Our trip to Big Sur was as usual, heaven. The days were warm and the nights were chilly. We were unable to have a campfire, but that didn't stop us from grabbing our sleeping bags and all the blankets we could find and spend several hours watching the night sky. We saw a dozen or more shooting stars, many satellites and were lucky enough to see Venus and Jupiter meet up.

Our drive down early Friday was full of great sights as well! A whale, some condors and clear roads. We were able to do some soul replenishing on Saturday at the peak above our campground where all we heard was the wind blowing and a few woodpeckers. Unfortunately we had to come home on Sunday afternoon, we almost thought about calling in sick on Monday and spending just one more day in heaven. Too many obligations, man being an adult sometimes sucks! Oh well, with our holiday break in 20 days, we'll be going back down for sure during our month break.

This trip was the first time we had been since the fires and while it is still beautiful, it was strange to see parts of the mountains burned. We were so impressed with the work of the fire-fighters, the fire in some spots was literally licking at buildings but was the building saved. Amazing! The next few months will be very difficult down there now with the rains coming. There are already huge nets up in front of gullies where there is nothing to hold back the mud and debris. Our trips down may have to be postponed until after the rains have ended as it is expected to be pretty treacherous there.

Many thanks from Mike for all the birthday wishes, we are so blessed with all the wonderful people in our lives! Thank you!! Hope everyone is having a great week so far....Enjoy the pictures!

It is so refreshing to get the rain after the fires but it is also so scary with the mud slides etc. We are having the same issues down here. Glad you guys had a good time and yes we only have 20 days till we are off and get to relax again. I love this time of year!!!

Christy :)

Does the soul good to be in the outdoors like that! I can see why you want to hurry back.

Enjoy.

Wonderful photos. The fires were really just unbelievable to see on tv, I can't imagine really being there.

I'm glad you guys had a good time and especially glad that you still have good weather.
